U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Reopens Comment Period for Proposed Revised Critical Habitat Designation for Red-Legged Frog
On April 28, 2009, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) re-opened the comment period on its 2008 proposed revised designation of 1.8 million acres as critical habitat for the threatened California red-legged frog. The new 30-day comment period coincided with the FWS release of its draft economic analysis (DEA) of the estimated possible economic impacts flowing from the critical habitat designation (CHD). Thus, the public had an opportunity to comment on the proposed critical habitat rule and the economic study. As this article was going to print, the comment period ended on May 28.
