Sacramento Citizens’ Group Files Lawsuit Challenging Natomas Levee Project
A group of residents living near Sacramento River levees in the Natomas area of Sacramento has challenged the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency’s Natomas Levee Improvement Project in an effort to halt the agency’s removal of trees to allow for a widened levee. The lawsuit comes at a time when the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency is adapting the levee improvement project timeline to account for increased costs and delays by the state in funding a portion of the costs. (See, Garden Highway Community Association v. Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, et al., Case No. 80000184, filed March 3, 2009 (Sacramento Cnty Super Ct).)
