  • Texas Comptroller Analyzes the State’s ‘Liquid Assets’

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts entered the circle of state political leaders and regulatory agencies weighing in on the state’s water future, with the public release in February, 2009, of “Liquid Assets: The State of Texas’ Water Resources” (Liquid Assets). Comptroller Susan Combs, relying in part on information from the Texas Water Development Board, presents the math to support an inarguable premise—“lack of water is costly.” As the nation searches for economic stimulus, Liquid Assets aptly recognizes that the state’s economy “always has and always will rely on clean and abundant water supplies.”
