  • State Legislative Analyst’s Office Recommends Sweeping Changes to California Water Law

The California Legislative Analyst’s Office has produced a controversial new report on water issues. The report first explains the problems facing California’s water supply and delivery system in the wake of increasingly variable weather conditions, legal requirements, and system operation and conveyance constraints. As a solution, the report recommends new legislation, including regulating groundwater pumping at the State level and redefining the “reasonable use” of water to include conservation, efficiency measures and use of technology.
