U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Proposes to Quadruple Critical Habitat for California Red-Legged Frog
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has proposed to revise critical habitat designated for the California red-legged frog by increasing the previous 2006 final rule from 450,288 acres of critical habitat to 1,804,865 acres of critical habitat in 28 California counties. The California red-legged frog is the largest native frog in the western United States. It is found in California and Baja California, Mexico. The frog has been protected as a threatened species under the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) since 1996.
