Biodiesel Regulation: Are We Stifling Innovation?
Biodiesel continues to receive an influx of capital as an alternative fuel source. In July, the North American Development Bank put $20 million behind a biodiesel production facility in El Paso, Texas and in May, the City of San Francisco received a $1 million grant from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission to build its first biodiesel plant to recycle restaurant grease. Despite the growth of biodiesel as an alternative fuel source, current federal and state regulations may stifle this growing industry.
