State Assembly Rejects Proposed Legislation to Offset Water Use of New Developments
On May 29, 2008, the California State Assembly voted against The Water Efficiency and Security Act, or AB 2153 (WESA). If passed, the bill would have required any development project that is subject to the California Environmental Quality Act, Pub. Resources Code, § 21000 et seq. (CEQA) to implement water efficiency measures and pay a mitigation fee to offset annual water consumption.
