East Bay Municipal Utility District Seeks Voluntary Water Rationing for the First Time in 15 Years
On April 24, 2007, the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) asked its customers to cut back water usage to lessen the impact of forecasted water shortages. Such voluntary rationing could avoid the need for the district to impose mandatory cutbacks should dry conditions continue in future water years. This is the first rationing request that the publicly owned utility has made of its customers in 15 years.
