  • Public Comment Period Ends as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Floats Its New Lake Lanier Plan

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Mobile District, has completed a number of the phases in its preparation of an environmental impact statement (EIS) to address proposed interim water storage contracts at Lake Sidney Lanier, Buford Dam, Georgia. Most recently, on December 29, 2006, the period for public comment closed after a series of five public meetings were held in the month preceding that. The Corps will now take that public input into account as it prepares an EIS to cover the plans it has for implementing changes in its operations of Lake Lanier to effectuate a series of proposed interim water supply contracts.
