Lawsuit Filed over Contra Costa Water District’s Plan to Divert Water from a New Delta Intake Location
San Luis & Delta Mendota Water Authority v. Contra Costa Water District
On December 18, 2006 the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority filed suit against the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) challenging the adequacy of CCWD’s Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for its “Alternative Intake Project.” The complaint alleges that CCWD’s EIR failed to consider all of the project’s impacts to water quality and water supply for people living south of the Sacramento- San Joaquin River Delta. For its part, CCWD painted the suit as obstructionist, and claimed that the case:
