New Court Challenge Filed over Virginia’s King William Reservoir Challenging the Corps’ Issuance of a Clean Water Act Dredge and Fill Permit
Alliance to Save the Mattaponi, et al. v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Environmental activities are again taking action to stop the controversial King William Reservoir. Earlier thwarted in state court lawsuits, the Alliance to Save the Mattaponi, The Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Sierra Club in July challenged the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ issuance of a permit for the proposed dam and 1,500-acre reservoir on the Pamunkey River in King William County, Virginia. The action was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
