Colorado Legislature Approves Interbasin Compact Committee Charter Paving the Way for Unprecedented Intrastate Water Compact Negotiations between River Basins
As the populations of Colorado’s municipalities on the East Slope of the Continental Divide continue to boom, the urban water utilities look to other river basins within the state more and more to satisfy the increased municipal demands. Some of Colorado’s fiercest battles over water allocation have centered on trans-mountain diversions from the West Slope to the East Slope.
