Environmental Groups Challenge Validity of Santa Clarita Valley Urban Water Management Plan
California Water Impact Network v. Castaic Lake Water Agency
On February 27, 2006 the California Water Impact Network and the Friends of the Santa Clara River filed a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the urban water management plan (UWMP) for the Santa Clarita Valley. Petitioners assert that the UWMP provides an unrealistic appraisal of available imported water supplies, and would be used to justify growth that may ultimately rely on important groundwater supplies, while Defendants contend they exceeded the requirements of the UWMP Act.
