  • California Department of Water Resources Proposes Changes to the State’s Flood Control System

On January 10, 2005 the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) presented to the legislature, a report titled, “Flood Warnings: Responding to California’s Flood Crisis.” The flood management white paper presents an overview of the current condition of flood management in the Central Valley and outlines a strategic approach based on a set of broad-based recommendations, which involve policy changes, program reforms and funding proposals. The White Paper further suggests legislative and constitutional actions necessary for the implementation of the recommended strategies.
