CALIFORNIA: Enforcement of Water Quality Regulation and Penalties

Water quality regulation remains an active and developing area of California water law. In recent years, there has been more emphasis on enforcement of civil and criminal penalties against municipal polluters and adoption of measures to gradually remove the long-standing waiver from water quality regulation for agricultural dischargers. This article discusses how California is addressing water quality issues through enforcement of regulations and penalties.
