WASHINGTON: Enforcement of Water Quality Regulation and Penalties
Washington’s ongoing efforts to accommodate a growing population while protecting salmon habitat, often brings water quality regulation to the forefront. Where the Endangered Species Act provides the flag of controversy, it is through water quality regulation that the state finds the enforcement authorities. This is largely due to the fact that Washington’s endangered species of note is the salmon, a highly water dependent creature.
