New Mexico Considers a Water Court System
On September 30, 2002, the federal government released a settlement framework in a two-year-old Colorado case that could have profound implications for federal reserved water rights across the West. In the framework, the government signaled that it would relax its claims to reserved water rights on specific federal lands in Colorado to allow the state more flexibility and control over the resource.
