Public/Private Partnership Will Purchase 25,000 Forest Acres in Northern California for State Park
In a deal set to close sometime this year or early next year, the California Department of Parks and Recreation will purchase 25,000 acres of forest land in Del Norte County. The 25,000 acres slated for purchase from Oregon-based Stimson Lumber Co. for $60 million would eventually become a state park nestled between already-existing Redwood National and State Parks and the Smith River National Recreation Area.
