Governor Davis and Air Resources Board File Suit Seeking Waiver of EPA-Mandated Use of Oxygenates.
Davis v. EPA
Based on scientific data collected by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), the California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal-EPA), California natural resource authorities, and the Association of California Water Agencies, which demonstrate that the state's refineries can now produce clean-burning fuels without oxygenate additives, Governor Gray Davis and CARB filed a lawsuit on August 13, 2001 in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals seeking to compel the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to waive its oxygenate requirement as applied to California.
