2008 California Water Law & Policy MCLE Conference
April 17-18, 2008
Hotel Nikko, San Francisco
Argent Communications Group is pleased to announce its 2008
"California Water Law & Policy" MCLE Conference. This conference
marks the 24th California Water Law & Policy MCLE program produced by
Argent Communications Group and the editors and advisors of
California Water Law & Policy Reporter.
Two major challenges confront those concerned with water supply in
California: water supply-related infrastructure concerns, and the
specter of global climate change. Both have enormous implications for
California’s already strained supply and delivery systems. This
important conference covers the crucial legal, regulatory and policy
issues affecting water supply in California’s major water supply
systems and basins—the Bay-Delta, Colorado River and Klamath Basin—
as well as policy and management issues related to climate change and
water.
CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS
KEYNOTE ADDRESS “Delta Stewardship and the Law” by Hon. Lois
Wolk, Assemblywoman, California State Assembly.
Co-chaired by Greg Wilkinson, Partner in the law firm of Best, Best
& Krieger, and Gala Argent, publisher for 19 years of California
Water Law & Policy Reporter.
NEW! Pre-Session: Overview of California Water Law. In order to
maximize conference time, we have this year included the overview as
pre-session, for those who are new to the practice area or feel the
need for an update.
TOPICS COVERED
Day One covers the pressing “Big Picture” Water Law Issues
affecting water law, regulation and policy facing the state—as we
always do. Following a practical panel on working with state and
local regulatory agencies we, cover—in-depth—Delta issues, and
Clean Water Act and Colorado River developments.
Day Two deals with both Climate Change and Water Supply. After a
morning overview of climate change in California sets the stage, the
program moves back to attorneys who address water issues on the
Klamath Basin, recycled water regulation and conflicts around “paper
water.“ We end with a panel discussing how firms and organizations
are adapting to climate change concerns with new practice areas. Is
this new practice area solely limited to environmental lawyers? What
about water?
The attached PDF brochure describes the topics and speakers in depth.

NOT ALL WATER LAW CONFERENCES ARE THE SAME!
Make sure you register for the correct conference. This April 17-18
conference is the only water law conference in 2008 that will be
produced by the publishers of California Water Law & Policy Reporter.
We are a California-based conference provider, and have provided
publications and water law conference programs specifically for the
California Water Bar since 1989. Rather than the regional approach
adopted by other MCLE providers, the "California Water Law & Policy"
MCLE Conference each year covers issues affecting the entire state.
As you plan your conference budget for the remainder of the year, we
invite you to compare our program topics and speakers to any other
water law conference out there. If you attend only one MCLE water law
conference this year, make this THE ONE! Make sure you register for
the correct conference.
